Liverpool are heavily linked with big money move for Southampton captain and player of the year Adam Lallana.
Although, the deal is far from completion, Reds are surely interested in luring the England international to further reinforce their brilliant attack and increase depth.
The 26 year old star featured in every league game for Saints and scored 9 goals. His performances have earned him a place in team of the year as well as with England for the World Cup 2014.
For now, I’m completely ignoring the defensive/midfield changes that Liverpool may make during the summer and focusing on how the merseysiders will fit Lallana in the attacking setup.
Here is how Liverpool may line up with Lallana next season.
4-1-2-1-2 / 4-3-3
Rodgers has utilized the diamond formation many a times during the season, with Sterling and Coutinho playing behind the two strikers. More importantly, he has changed the system and players in different ways to the side’s benefit.
It can be safely said that Rodgers’ strong interest in securing Lallana is because he is versatile. He played as an AM as well as on both flanks for Southampton and proved fruitful.
Hence the likes of Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling and Henderson can be placed in this formation as per Rodgers liking. Of course, one of them will have to sit on the bench with Suarez and Sturridge starting.
4-2-3-1
It is highly unlikely that Brendan may keep any of Suarez or Sturridge out of the starting line up if they are not injured.
The selection for this formation is easy if any of them is not available. Still, with increased competition and Champions League football around, Rodgers will have to rest his stars and benefit with the quality depth as well.
Do hope Suso is brought back after his successful spell in La Liga and given chances as the talent is there and he will without doubt improve Liverpool’s quality in depth. Feel free to suggest your formations. Thanks.
