Man United Boosted in Bid to Sign Quality €20m Star

Manchester United manager David Moyes is looking to improve his side’s defensive department for next season.
The Red Devils have had a miserable season as far as their high standards are concerned and a lot of blame goes to weak midfield and defensive showing.
United’s experienced defenders like Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra have been disappointing this season and Moyes need quality players to replace them.
Manchester United have been linked with Argentine international and Benfica’s center back Garay for quite some time.
However, they are not the only ones interested in signing him. In January, Zenit were close to securing a deal for the former Los Blancos star but the Portuguese side blocked the move.
Now, according to reports, with new manager AVB in charge at Zenit, Manchester United have been handed a major boost to sign Garay.
As per the provided link, former Spurs manager is interested in luring Belgian international Jan Vertonghen to Zenit instead of Garay.
Vertonghen wants to play in the Champions league and Spurs are likely to fail in achieving that objective this season and hence the former Ajax man may depart.
In such a scenario, Manchester United must take advantage and move for Garay who has a release clause of €20m in his contract.
He is surely not as expensive as other players like Mangala and it is the best possible time for United to lure him to Old Trafford.
