Sturridge Claims Torres Still Loves Liverpool

Torres Alonso LiverpoolFernando Torres was once the darling of the kop but turned into a villain when he moved to Chelsea in January 2011.
He still holds the record of scoring the fastest 50 goals for Liverpool and the Anfield faithful thought that he might become a Red Legend but it wasn’t to be.
Since leaving Liverpool, Torres has never found that red hot form that made him one of the best and most feared strikers in world football.
At Chelsea, he did win trophies but with has mainly become a laughing stock of a striker.
Even after joining Chelsea, many a times he spoke about his love for Liverpool and without a shadow of a doubt he miss those days when he was renowned all over the world and loved at Anfield.
Daniel Sturridge played with former Liverpool stars Torres and Benayoun at Chelsea but he could not get much playing time and joined Reds last year. Since then, he has been scoring for fun.
Torres might have played some part in helping Sturridge decide his future. Sturridge claims that Torres still loves Liverpool and regards them as the best club he has ever played for. Dany stated:

“He (Torres) always spoke very highly about Liverpool” “When we were at Chelsea together he would say, “Liverpool are  amazing”, and it wasn’t just him — it was Yossi Benayoun as well. They both said, “That club is the best I have played for”.
“They said the fans will make you feel amazing and, at the time, I thought I need a bit of that in my life because I was low right then.”

The statements cannot undo what Torres did, he had the chance to become an Anfield Legend but did not have the time to help Liverpool rebuild.
In the end, he did win some silverware but perhaps lost himself.

He probably would have stayed if the cancers hadn’t sacked Benitez. Benitez was outspoken in his criticism of H&G. The players should have spoken up and supported Benitez too. With Hodgson in charge, why wouldn’t Torres make plans to go?
