When David Moyes took over at Manchester United, he targeted various top players to reinforce Red Devils’s midfield.
However, the former Evertonian was unable to lure any and with time running out, Moyes opted to sign one of his own, Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian star arrived for a mammoth sum of €32m and fans expected a lot as for Toffees he had been one of the best midfield stars in the league.
Fellaini was renowned for his overall game i.e. his ability to help in both attack and defense but after moving to United, he only seemed confused.
His performances in the first half of the season were pathetic to say the least and soon Moyes had to bench him.
However, since his return to the lineup after his long term injury, Fellaini has largely improved and finally the Belgian star is turning it on for Manchester United.
Fellaini was one of the best players in the last game against Albions and showed his versatility in midfield that United have been missing badly.
As per bwin, Fellaini made 100 touches, 14 more than anyone on the field, made 72 passes with an accuracy of 90%.
Provided two key passes, won four aerial duels and eight interceptions to dominate the midfield battle and eventually help his side dominate the play.
Normally Carrick is United’s creative engine in midfield but Fellaini clearly overshadowed him against West Brom.
If he maintains such form then United are going to flourish in the long run and can do brilliantly if another quality midfield star is bought to play alongside him, someone like Kroos.
