Arsenal are only a single point behind league leaders Chelsea and cannot afford to drop points as they face Stoke City next.
Britannia stadium is by no means an easy place for the visiting sides but gunners can take confidence from their blistering performance last weekend against Sunderland.
Arsenal ripped the Black Cats apart beating them 4-1 on the day and will be looking to fire on all cylinders again.
German international and record signing Mesut Ozil was not available vs Sunderland but will return against Stoke as updated by manager Arsene Wenger.
“We have uncertainties about Monreal who had to come off last week with a foot injury, and about Gibbs. Vermaelen is back in the squad, Ozil is back in the squad. Both are available.”
Gibbs was injured during the Champions league game against Bayern and Monreal suffered in the last league game so the left back position is a concern.
Monreal may as well be fit in time but if not, then Wenger has the option of utilizing captain Vermaelen there as he stated:
“If needed Thomas can play there, it’s not his preferred position and he has been out for a long time now but we’ll see. I still have 48 hours to make a decision.”
Arsenal defeated the Potters 3-1 when Mark Hughes’s men visited Emirates back in September and the gunners should be considered favorites to earn all three points again.
Can Stoke upset Arsenal against all odds, we shall see.
