How Mourinho's Class Mastered Pellegrini as Chelsea Beat City

Manchester City had not dropped a single point at the Etihad Stadium and if there was one man who could change that, it was always going to be Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager was criticized by media and all for his negative tactics when his Chelsea side visited Manchester last time around to play United.
Many expected Mourinho to park the bus and look for a draw but what they witnessed was a world class overall performance by the Blues to finally undo Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
When the likes of Nemanja Matic and David Luiz were mentioned in the lineup, the idea was that Mourinho will focus more on defense as both are defensive midfielders.
However, Jose utilized them in the perfect manner knowing that they are versatile capable of providing brilliant passes and moving forward to attack as well.
The duo helped break City’s play on more than few occasions and went forward to join Chelsea’s counter attack. Moreover, both had shots on goal as well.
Oscar has been Mourinho main No.10 this season but Mourinho opted for Ramires because of the significant energy required for the fixture.
Hazard, Willian and Ramires were not just playing as attacking midfielders but everytime City came forward, the trio were running back to play in positions of wingbacks and Dms to break play for blistering counter attacks.
Chelsea hit the post three times, should have scored more than once as they created many goal scoring opportunities plus the fact that the goal came from Ivanovic says it all.
Your wingbacks playing as wingers and wingers playing as wingbacks when needed, the whole team contributed to stop City’s outstanding attack and this is the first time since Novemeber 2010 that the sky blues failed to score at home.
Infact, they could only muster up two key chances that too from the crosses as Pellegrini’s men just could not cut Chelsea’s defense apart from the center.
After the game, Mourinho again suggested that Chelsea are just little horse in title race but well these are his mind games. With Mourinho in charge, Chelsea are strong favorites.
The mind games worked against City, let’s see if that will work in deciding the title as well.
