Chelsea have been one of the bustiest clubs in the winter transfer window as the Blues have largely reinforced their squad in January.
Jose Mourinho sold club’s star player Juan Mata to Manchester United and utilized cash to reinforce several departments.
Chelsea lured versatile attacking midfielder Mohamed Salah from Basel who ripped them apart twice in the Champions League this season.
Blues also reinforced their central midfield bringing another flexible player Nemanja Matic who left Chelsea to join Benfica in 2011.
Last but not the least, Chelsea had defensive issues and hence strengthened defense department by signing young Kurt Zouma who is a strong defender.
As far as goal keeping area is concerned, they have ever reliable Petr Cech in the side plus a decent back up in the form of Mark Schwarzer of Australia.
The only department where they actually need a top quality player is that of a striker. One they did not sign in the winter window but will surely look for in the summer.
A club like Chelsea with a lot of cash should not be missing a world class goalscorer upfront, just that they wasted it on wrong players
Torres, Eto’o and Ba are by no means top draw strikers any more and they need someone like Diego Costa in the squad who will score 20 odd league goals.
Blues have a world class goalie, Courtois on loan playing for Atletico Madrid and few days back, there were rumors that Chelsea want to swap him for Diego Costa. However the rumor was ruled out by Mourinho. Also, Courtois father suggests that the player will return to Chelsea.
Surely a keeper of that caliber will not like to warm the bench and in the presence of Cech, Mourinho will have a complex scenario.
Therefore, Chelsea must look at their needs and if possible go for a sensational swap deal to bring Diego Costa, one of the best strikers in the world at the moment to Stamford Bridge.
