How Liverpool should Line up with Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah BaselLiverpool have been heavily linked with Egypt international Mohamed Salah who is one of the most brightest young talents around.
The 21 year old Basel star has undone Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in this season’s Champions League both at home and away at Stamford Bridge.
Capable of playing in any attacking midfielder position, in 25 starts in all competitions this season, Salah has scored 11 goals and provided 7 assists as well.
Rodgers has utilized different systems and Here is how Liverpool should line up with Salah if they finally end up luring him in the winter transfer window.
4-2-3-1
He has mainly been utilized as winger at both flanks and as a central attacking midfielder but majority of the times played at the right wing.
At Liverpool, Coutinho normally functions well behind the striker as well as on the left and ideally Salah will be included on the right hand side where he ripped Chelsea apart.
In this system, Suarez will be the one behind Sturridge, but that is obviously his position on the chart. We all know he is never stationary and will move up front, out wide, drop back to help the team in whichever way he can.
Also, majority of Suarez’s goals have not come from the final pass so there is no negative in starting him there.

4-2-2-2
Here is another formation where Salah can be included in the system with Suarez playing alongside Sturridge.
The only major concern in these formations is that if Salah is included, where will Rodgers place Henderson who has been one of the best players for Liverpool this season. His driving runs have been vital.
On the other hand if the manager uses 3 in the midfield to include Hendo then Salah will have to replace one of Coutinho, Suarez or Sturridge. Complex situation but a player like Salah will largely improve Liverpool’s attack and more importantly the quality depth that they have been lacking upfront.

Feel free to suggest your formations. Thanks

I suggest we purchase them first before jumping the gun on formations
    YNWA

If Ian ( IDIOT ) Ayre doesn’t screw the deal up,by trying to look good infront of the Yanks !!!

  3. Joe Leezy says:

I’d replace Lucas with Henderson as he offer far, far more to the team including mobility, energy and runs forward. He & Gerrard would need to strike up an understanding to determine who would make the runs forward and when, but generally Gerrard would sit deep.

if he is a good lad better to maintain him with the season’s performance so we could consistently compete for a place in the top four and possibly qualify for champions league….. Salah is a good lad according to his stats, possibly needs a standing 4 too. YNWA

  5. Chris Randall says:

Lets go out there and get the right players we need in this window,i belive we can fight for the title if we add the right players we aint far away we were unlucky aggainst man city+chelsea YNWA

Lucas should be sold..not good enough for Lfc.

  7. Denis Bryceson M says:

Bring salah to the squad, then add another strong d.mid to compete with lucus and skiper, but we shd not remove players like lucus be’se in lether teams they can help to rest xi,i believe a win to 3 fixtures will allow lfc in tittle race.YNWA.

  8. Darlingto says:

If and only if salah is signed by us.. We can play with 4-2-1-3 meaning sturridge is the point striker and both Salah and suarez on the wink.Lucas is offering a lot of help in the defence so he and Gerrard can operate as defensive midfielders with coutinho as attacking midfielder.Henderson can replace either Lucas or coutinho when its time for changes

  9. Ray says:

LFC needs another strong defensive player.Lucas is not strong enough it showed in city and chelsea games. As far as Ayre is still there I doubt if LFC can make any good signing. He wants to save money for the Americans. You cannot win the League on a shoe string budget.

I would never drop henderson from the first 11 line up unless he became tired or had a dip in form. He is everything a team should have particularly energy, pressing, hard work, vision and unselfishness. His finishing can improve but as he gets more chances and confidence it will do. A cool headed box to box midfielder who just needs more confidence infront of goal.

Vision an ideas is what’s lacking in him. He is learning what some younger players have acquired . He has good attitude, athletic n good skill but lack confidence n that footballing instinct . But he surely has learned a lot from Rodgers . During Dalglish’s time, I’d have loaned him or sold him away . He was clueless then . Now if keep him. He is good to have . But we must get better players . We can’t go salah (wrong in Malay) with Salah . I’m sure of that .
