Today, we bring you another classic and this time it is from the Champions League, the days when Adebayor used to play for Arsenal football club.
The Togolese striker was one of the brightest prospects for gunners after the departure of Thierry Henry but left too early and now plays for Arsenal’s arch rivals Tottenham.
Ade’s best season for Gunners was 2007-2008 where he scored no less than 24 league goals for the London side, only second to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 31 that season.
The goal is from 2008-2009 Champions League quarter final’s first leg when Arsenal met Villareal. Yellow submarine were in the lead thanks to a first half goal from Senna.
However, Gunners levelled the tie thanks to Adebayor who absolutely scored a screamer in the 66th minute, chested Fabregas’s ball and netted an acrobatic overhead kick that left current Real Madrid goalie Diego Lopez helpless.
Arsenal then dismantled Villareal in the second leg to go through to semifinals where they lost to Manchester United.
Enjoy the goal.
