Gunners sit 4 points clear at the top of the premier league. However, manager Arsene Wenger is well aware of the fact that their squad needs more quality to win the league title.
Not that the current squad is not good enough, Arsenal have showed immense quality and deserve to be at the top. Still, they need more depth in certain departments to cope with any unfortunate situations.
Striking department is surely a concern. Fortunately, Giroud, their only senior striker has stayed fit as there is no other star to replace him. Signing a striker in January should be Wenger’s priority.
Mirror suggests that Arsenal are interested in signing former Rossoneri star Alexander Pato who joined Brazilian side Cotinthians earlier this year for €15m.
According to the provided link, Corinthians have rejected an 8 million Euros bid from Arsenal for the Samba Star. This surely indicates that gunners are interested but the main question, are they going to up their bid to sign Pato?
Lately, he has been finding it hard to get playing time but his stats are prolific. He has netted 10 goals in 16 starts for the Brazilian club.
Understandable that Corinthians are not going to let him go for cheap after splashing a decent sum to lure him last January.
Wenger is not really going to take Giroud out of the starting lineup as he has performed well, so it is likely that he will not spend a real heavy sum for a striker. However, Pato is without doubt a clinical finisher and can be perfect signing for Arsenal.
In my opinion, Arsenal must up their bid to secure the services of Pato.
