Manchester United could only muster up a draw against Real Sociedad last night in the Champions league.
However, they could have ended up with all three points thanks to the play acting of Ashley Young.
Sadly for him, Robin van Persie could not convert the penalty and the match ended in a stalemate.
Young is renowned for his diving in the premier league but being British helps him avoid the lime light and it normally falls on Suarez.
Dietmar Hamann rightly claimed that Young only won the penalty because Referee did not know him.
Anyways, with that dive, Ashley young actually made a fool out of his former boss and United’s legendary manager Alex Ferguson who thought he had fixed Young’s diving problem.
Ferguson criticized a few of his former United players like Beckham, Keane, Hargreaves etc.
Included in that list, Ashely Young was criticized by Ferguson for his diving and was dropped when he was in charge. Ferguson writes:
“Ashley ran into trouble against QPR in the 2011-12 season, when Shaun Derry was sent off and our player was accused of diving. I left him out for the next game, and told him that the last thing he needed as a Manchester United player was a reputation for going down easily.
It wasn’t a penalty kick against QPR and Shaun Derry’s sending off was not rescinded. Ashley did it two weeks in a row but we stopped it. Going to ground too willingly was not something I tolerated”
Moyes needs to drop him for a game or two as well. In any case, he is playing poor football and will inevitably be dropped.
He did not eradicate diving from his game even after Ferguson’s remarks, expect that to continue even if Moyes take an action. Utter disgrace.
