Arsenal star Theo Walcott has been out injured for sometime. On the other hand Spurs’s Andros Townsend has been flying high for Spurs.
In 9 games for the North London side, the 22 year old Townsend has directly contributed in 6 goals. Hence earned his deserved place in Roy Hodgson’s England starting XI for the first time.
Townsend grabbed the opportunity with both hands with a man of the match display against Montenegro last night.
Tottenham winger tormented the opponent’s defense all game and helped in the opening goal. Adding to that, the youngster scored a wonderful 25 yard strike with his weak foot to re-gain England’s 2 goal advantage.
Walcott was in decent form as well before his injury. This season, the gunner featured in 8 games in all competitions, scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists as well.
Not to forget, 24 year old Theo Walcott was not the part of England’s squad that flew to the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
Surely he would not like to miss on another one. If Theo is fit, he is likely to travel with the squad, however Roy Hodgson may have a massive selection dilemma for the right wing position.
It is too early to say that Townsend is better than Theo Walcott as the Arsenal star has been there for years.
However, with the kind of current top form, Townsend is definitely threatening walcott’s starting place for England.
If the Spurs’s star continues like that for the rest of the season then do not be surprised if he starts ahead of Walcott for England regularly.

Townsend will surely give walcott a tough competition for places,he is skillful & fast….walcott should watch it & up his game.
No doubt Walcott is unique in his style of play, he will alway have his way. Townsend is no threat to walcott’s position but a good substitute. Note Alex chamberlein is on their back.
Walcott won’t even be a starter for Arsenal if Gnabry proves himself.
Andros Townsend has played on the left or right in his career… He is a left footer, so a decission betweenTheo or Andros is not necessarily a choice that has to be made. The question is who else is there as good as Andros who can play as an orthodox left wing… Lets not forget Aaron Lennon, once he is fit I expect to see andros play left wing for spurs. As there is no Gareth Bale in the way now.
As Townsend continues to grow like Walker or a Bale, and further strengthens both feet, Townsennd
will be a threat, and a big bonus to Spurs and country. Be level headed.;like he recently played.
Th14 is a missed linked in arsenal 11. Even if he is not a clinical finisher he alway provide a need pace of the game. The game btn arsenal and WBA lacked speed especially from the wings. If arsenal had Theo that day, they could have won the game.
