Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side registered their first Champions league win of the competition few days back.
However, they had to deal with a blow as Torres limped off injured.
Now scans have revealed that Spaniard’s injury is not a minor one and there is more bad news.
Fernando Torres will be out for at least three weeks with knee ligament injury.
Chelsea’s official website stated:
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm Fernando Torres suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee in the Champions League group game at Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday evening. “
“The 29-year-old will be out for approximately three weeks.”
Injury to Fernando Torres is a major concern for Blues side as their strikers were finding it hard to score goals and lately Spaniard was the brightest of all.
This means Samuel Eto’o will likely be starting for Mourinho in the upcoming fixtures.
The Cameroonian is still looking to find the net for his new club. However he was lively in their win in the midweek.
