Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney is all set to feature for his national side during the international break.
The former Evertonian recently praised Steven Gerrard and claimed that Reds captain should have been given the England’s arm band way before.
Now Rooney has come up and showered praised on another Liverpool man who he wishes to play alongside for the England side, Daniel Sturridge.
Rooney stated:
“He has scored a lot of goals.
“He has been given a vote of confidence by the manager at Liverpool who has trusted him to play up front.
“He has delivered. I am sure if we play together we will try and work together, try and link up and try and score goals between the two of us.”
The question is, is it possible that these two will be playing as strikers for England under Roy Hodgson’s setup.
Sturridge has been in fantastic form. Easily the best English out and out striker for now and deserves to play there for the national side.
Rooney on the other hand has been handed a role of playing behind the striker for quite some time at Manchester United.
In case Roy opts to play with a lone striker upfront, Rooney is likely to be handed a role to play behind the striker even if he wishes to play as a striker.
Will Rodgers deploy a system where both will play as strikers? We shall see.

I think Roy Hodgson will play 442 and play them both with Danny Welbeck on the left !
