He has been suffering from injuries this season but Ikay Gundogan was one of the most important players for German side Borussia Dortmund and is highly rated.
The central midfield maestro attracted interest from top clubs in the summer transfer window but in the end stayed with the Champions League runner ups.
Premier league leaders Arsenal were interested in summer and are still keen on signing him in winter. However, Daily Star suggests that Manchester United are ready to move for the $48m star to further reinforce their midfield that is lacking quality at the moment.
The German international is on a long term contract with Dortmund side till 2015 but currently faces a long term injury and he may take few more months to recover.
Back in 2011, Gundogan called Manchester United a ‘dream club’ but the Devils showed no real intent to sign him and Dortmund took advantage.
Arsenal are also interested in his team mate Reus and Schalke’s playmaker Julian Draxler, however signing them is also easier said than done.
Manchester United have started the season in poor fashion and the English champions just have to heavily reinforce their squad to compete with the big guns who did invest a lot in the summer transfer window.
Even Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal who were far from challenging for the title last season have started the season brightly and can pose major threat to any team.
David Moyes will have funds and will strengthen certain important positions, will Gundogan be one of the newcomers, we shall see.
