Boss Blasts Liverpool’s Performance – Why Rodgers is Right

Boss Blasts Liverpool’s Performance – Why Rodgers is RightLiverpool may have moved to the top of premier league (only behind Arsenal on goals scored). However, their manager is not completely impressed.
Brendan Rodgers was pleased that Liverpool won the game against Crystal Palace but he was disappointed by some aspects of the performance as well.
He stated that Liverpool won the game despite not playing great.

“The lack of control in the game was disappointing.”
“Second half was nowhere near what we want it to be, but without playing great, we won the game and that was something that in the first season we were guilty of – playing ever so well but not getting the result.”
“Today in patches, some of the performances were good. But we’ve won the game having not played great.”

Rodgers is right. Liverpool absolutely dismantled Palace in the first half. Going into the second half with a 3-0 lead, they decided to sit back and play on the counter, which is baffling when they were passing the ball so well in the first half.
In 7 league fixtures, Liverpool have only scored once in the second half, the goal came against Sunderland in injury time. They have played flowing attacking football in the first halves but held back in the second.
Adding to that, their defense that was really solid in the start are now leaking goals, especially they have been really poor from set pieces. Reds have conceded 3 of their last 4 goals from set pieces.
Liverpool are flying high, but if they want to fight for top challenges and maintain consistency, the mentioned aspects must be improved as well.
