Liverpool started their new season in fantastic style that amplified the hopes of the supporters Three wins in first three premier league games without even conceding a goal.
In those fixtures, Liverpool opened the scoring in the opening halves and then heavily relied on their solid defense to help them earn three points.
However, now Reds have lost 2 out of last three fixtures and have conceded goals mainly due to defensive mistakes.
Last night against Manchester United and at the weekend against Southampton, Liverpool failed to clear their lines from a set piece and suffered.
Marking that was spot on in the first few fixtures has been absolutely poor and Reds defense have lost their focus.
Last season, their main weakness was defense and therefore Rodgers mainly reinforced that department this summer, still he is in a complex dilemma.
The injury to Glen Johnson has been a major blow but Kolo Toure has done well when utilized at the right back position. However, the central defense is the main concern.
Ivorian international was superb in the middle and Reds clearly miss him in the center. Andre Wisdom was unable to perform well at RB position against Swansea and Rodgers was forced to use Toure at that position.
Rodgers needs to find a way to bring back Toure in the central defense. Martin Kelly is now fit and has served Liverpool effectively as Right Back. He should be given the nod to start against Sunderland, while Toure should be re-shifted as center back.
