Brendan Rodgers’s side moved to second place in the premier league after defeating rock bottom Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of light.
Suarez played his first premier league game of the season after returning from ban and scored twice to mark his return in style.
Black Cats were bright under the new interim manager but in the end Liverpool’s quality undid all of Sunderland’s hard work.
Stats do not suggest that Liverpool completely dominated the game, but the presence of top quality stars upfront, Sturridge and Suarez proved too much for the home side.
Sturridge’s arm goal meant that for now he is the leading scorer in the premier league. Apart from that, he provided two top draw assists to Luis Suarez who made no mistake in tapping the ball in the net twice.
Sunderland bombarded Liverpool’s defense with attack after attack especially in the second half but did not have the cutting edge.
The home side made 23 attempts on goal as compared to Liverpool’s 15, yet could only score a single goal on the day.
Liverpool have finally scored in the second half of a game for the first time this season.
More importantly, three points in the bag and Arsenal only two ahead.
Next up, Reds face 19th placed Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Still not playing well, but I’d have taken 13 points from 6 games 😉 Would love it if the manure didn’t get into Champions League.GLORY GLORY David Moyes 😉
i will appreciate if we try keep possession of the ball more, now that we have more quality players on the pitch.cos it helps avert injuries to players and also keep clean sheets.sunderland goal came at livp conceedind possesion cheaply to them.I think rodgers should re-emphasis the need to press our opponents high up the pitch, considering the athletism of our defence now,but so far in the season the reverse has been the case.Again i think Gerard is the most out of form player in the starting xi so he should be rested.
