Ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has started his Napoli career brilliantly as the Italian side sit at the top of Serie A having won the opening 3 games.
Rafa may have lost his star striker Cavani to PSG but has utilized the funds to increase the quality of Napoli. Gonzalo Higuain is already becoming a fan favorite and new signings are gelling in well.
Mirror reports that Benitez wants to further increase the quality of the squad by signing Chelsea’s outcast Juan Mata.
Rafa did leave some good memories for the fans at the Bridge, but he is surely going to make himself more unpopular with the Chelsea fans by moving for Mata.
Mourinho is treating the Spaniard the way he treated legendary Iker Casillas at Real Madrid and once again he really does not care about what fans have to say.
Jose believes that Chelsea’s best player for the past two seasons is not doing enough and yesterday he was not even part of the squad that defeated Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
Benitez, himself a Spaniard is looking to provide Mata the escape route. The former Valencia manager utilized Mata as his main asset for the Blues last season and did wonders.
He regrouped a falling Chelsea side, earned them Champions League place, defeated Manchester United twice and won Chelsea’s first Europa League trophy (his third European Cup). He did that all when his own supporters wanted him out of the club.
If things do not change for Juan Mata at Chelsea then he is likely to lose out on a World Cup place. Benitez and Napoli though can help him and may move for the Spaniard in January. No one can blame Mata if he opts to leave Blues.
