After a shocking 3-2 defeat on match day 2 at the hands of newcomers Cardiff side, Manchester City side have bounced back with a win against another promoted team Hull City.
Goals from Yaya Toure and new signing Alvaro Negredo in the second half were enough to earn all three points. Man City are back to winning ways but still need massive improvement.
The sky blues have been dominant at home for the past few years but today they were outclassed in the first half by a promoted team.
It will be fair to say that Steve Bruce’s men deserved to earn at least a point today.
Manuel Pellegrini is renowned for his brilliant defensive tactics. However, City’s defense was clumsy as ever in the first 45 minutes. Hull could have easily been 2 goals up had they taken their chances.
The visitors were able to find acres of spaces in usually solid City defense and that is mainly something that Pellegrini has to improve.
City’s major focus have been on the attacking side this summer as they added Fernandinho, Navas and Negredo but they surely need a quality defender as well. It was obvious the home side were missing their captain Kompany.
If two weak teams can open up their back four so easily then they should expect the worst when up against top opponents.
With Champions league and a fixture against rivals Manchester United coming up next month, the citizens must improve their defending. Same is the case if they want to regain the premier league title.

Steve Bruce and Hull City were unlucky not to take home all the points,Cities defense seems lost without Vincent Kompany and if they perform like that when United give them a visit they are going to be embarrassed to say the least,Pellegrini is finding life in the premiership a bit too hot and if he doesnt sort it soon I think he will be sacked before christmas !
Personally Manchester city’s defence has always been the problems right from the reign of their former manager. The rate at which the back four concedes goals considering how well they are paid is beyond belief.
Pellegrini needs to rock the boat and let the bad eggs leave. Manchester city players are marginally playing to their potential and capacity. They are a bunch of fat cats.
Yaya Toure, Nasri, and a host of other players are not in top physical condition. They are all overweight in comparison to Manchester United players and tend to fall easily at the least challenge from opposing players.
Manchester City regaining the championship is nothing but a pipe dream.

CIty have been topping the Clean sheet charts for the past 3 seasons. Mancini’s defense was very well organized, just more than a few blips last season in major games cost them. So your point is invalid.
and you cant possibly be saying Yaya Toure falls easily :S coz that has never happened
