Manchester City suffered a major setback yesterday after their star-studded squad lost to promoted side Cardiff 3-2. New manager Pellegrini was left stunned.
With an experienced manager in charge and world class players signed, the 2012 premier league champions are widely regarded as one of the favorites to regain the title this season. Although, two games decide absolutely nothing but perhaps this early blip confirms Chelsea as favorite for the title.
Manuel Pellegrini might have a brilliant squad at his disposal but coming into a completely different league and settling in quickly is not always easy. He has a terrific record in Europe but has never won a league title in the continent.
Pellegrini, renowned for his brilliant defensive tactics was left exposed by newcomers who scored three past Manchester City. A lot to blame on their goalie Joe Hart as well.
Chelsea on the other hand have started in typical Mourinho style. Not so entertaining display for the fans but still able to do the job and win both games.
Blues have won their fixtures against Hull City and Aston Villa but will now face their toughest test versus the champions Manchester United.
If Chelsea can beat United at Old Trafford then that will further give weight to their ‘Favorites’ tag. Mourinho’s experience may as well prove vital in the title race.
