Gunners have finally completed their first signing of the summer and it is not star striker Higuain but French international Yaya Sanogo. The 20 year old leaves Auxerre after staying 3 years with the club.
Arsenal are looking to add more firepower upfront and Sanogo will surely help in that cause, however the French forward is not likely to go straight into the starting lineup especially if Los Blancos forward arrives as well.
The former Auxerre boy is without doubt a top talent, his record speaks out loud but perhaps there are two extremes of new Arsenal signing Yaya Sanogo.
At one extreme is his prolific goal scoring record. Lately the young forward featured for the national side in the U20 World Cup and was impressive to say the least. Sanogo featured in 3 games for France, scored 2 goals and also provided 1 assist as well.
Adding to that, he made 8 appearances in Ligue 2 last season which included only 4 starts yet the youngster scored no less than 9 times for the French side. His goal scoring ability at that age is brilliant but there is one problem Arsenal hope they do not face.
At the other extreme is his injury record. Sanogo is by all means an injury prone player. Due to a broken leg he could only feature in one game for Auxerre in first 2 seasons.
Even last season Sanogo faced the problems of minor injuries and the baffling fact is that he has at best only made six consecutive starts in his career.
Sanogo has all the qualities to be a successful striker in the premier league, but coming to a tougher and more physical league, his fitness will be immensely tested. Gunner supporters will be hoping that come next season they are celebrating his goals instead of mourning for him being on the treatment table.

The Two Extremes of New Arsenal Signing

How strange. Wenger has signed another freebie. I smell a Chamakh coming on. This cheapskate club that I have loved and supported since my dad sat me on his lap in 1958 are now officiall call “les cheapskates”. Anyway rumour has it that Wenger was found outside a creche in Kwa Zulu and has offered £30,000,000 for a 2 year old boy who’s genetic test showed he will win us the league in 30 years time.
Makes me laugh some of these arsenal fans banging on about this signing… HE WAS A FREE TRANSFER. Its not like we spent millions on him.
I wish him luck and can’t wait to see what he brings to the club
Congratulations but tools are still needed.
I still have strong faith in Wenger
Well, hope is no bad to have such a commodity in our Stock. He is a talented one ånd as he didn’ t cost that much, let us accept him as a true figure in our hunting.
Another useless buy by a not less useless coach and penny pinching economist.
