Not so long ago the Citizens had four world class strikers at their disposal. The names like Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez are worrying for defenders over the world but now Manchester City are losing quality depth upfront.
The sky blues sold Italian star Mario Balotelli to AC Milan in the winter transfer market and super Mario has been impressive for the Rossoneri since joining them. He has even overshadowed his fellow Italian star Stephen El Shaarawy at Milan.
More recently, City have sold Argentine Carlos Tevez to another Italian side, Juventus who successfully retained their Serie A crown last season. Tevez was without doubt one of the most hard working players in their side and his return helped them win the Premier league title last season.
Now reports suggest that, City may as well offload another top striker in Edin Dzeko. According to Express Napoli may move for the Bosnian forward if they lose star striker Cavani this summer. Dzeko is a clinical finisher as proved by his performances in Germany and England and can prove to be beneficial for Napoli.
On the other hand Daily Star reports that Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing Dzeko to replace their main talisman Radamel Falcao who left to join French side Monaco.
The only striker that has renewed the contract is Sergio Aguero and City are looking to sign Spaniard Negredo for a reported sum of 20 million pounds.
Dzeko mostly played a bench role for the Citizens last season and will not be willing to stay if he does not get regular first team football. From four top class strikers, now City only have 3 strikers; Aguero, Dzeko and young John Guiddetti (no one really knows him) and the stat will remain the same if Bosnian departs and Negredo arrives.
If Dzeko does depart then City must sign at least another top striker, never mind young, who can increase the depth upfront and be ready to step up from the bench when needed.
For now, City are losing their quality depth and the new manager Pellegrini surely must do something about it. They have already signed Fernandinho and Navas, but expect the Citizens to sign more stars before the transfer season ends.
