Liverpool Interested in Versatile Paraguayan

Liverpool Interested in Versatile ParaguayanThe Reds are in the market for a left back to reinforce the position after inconsistent outings from Spanish defender Jose Enrique. Not so long ago, Rodgers himself claimed that the club is in the market for a left back and perhaps they have found one in Benfica’s Lorenzo Malgarejo.
Liverpool are interested in the versatile Paraguayan who can play both as a left back and as a left winger. The 22 year old was one of the most influential players last season for the Portuguese side only to end runner up in the both Taca de Portugal and UEFA Europa League.
Reports suggest that the merseysiders have contacted Benfica to somehow sign the youngster on a season long loan deal at first  and then to make the move permanent next season.
However, it is highly unlikely that Jorge Jesus will let one of his key players leave this summer that too on a loan. Liverpool will have to come up with a serious offer to land the Paraguayan.
Lorenzo Malgarejo can add to Liverpool’s defense as well as attack. Last year the defender featured in 21 league games for Benfica, scored 2 goals and also provided 3 assists as well. A season before last he was loaned out to Pacos Ferreira where he was normally utilized as a left winger and not left back.
Amazingly, Malgarejo started 26 games, scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists for Pacos Ferreira in 2011-2012 campaign. Brilliant stats for someone who is a natural left back.
Liverpool have already hired ore firepower in attack this summer and will mainly need the Paraguayan to further strengthen the defense that was really inconsistent last season. Whether or not Reds will be able to sign him on loan, only time will tell.
