The blues are in pole position to land one of their former midfielders Nemanja Matic from Benfica. Having already signed Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse, Chelsea do not really need another midfielder but the Serbian’s brilliant performances last season has not gone unnoticed.
The Benfica star won the coveted Primeira Liga player of the year award deservedly as he won player of the month awards three times during the course of last campaign. Matic joined Benfica in 2011 as a deal sweetener to lure Brazilian David Luiz to Chelsea and now has become a star for the Portuguese side.
His impressive outings in the Primeira Liga and Europa League have drawn interest from major European clubs like Real Madrid and now Chelsea reportedly want their former star back at Stamford Bridge before the start of next season.
Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus does not want to sell his star player but fears that Matic’s qualities are too good to be ignored and big clubs will most probably sign him. Jesus claimed:
“Of course Matic’s exit worries me”
“When he came to Portugal he was on the periphery at Chelsea. We thought that he had potential. In the two years that followed we worked with him and made him the player he is today, highly coveted by the biggest clubs in the world.”
As mentioned, Chelsea have already signed Marco van Ginkel from Eredivisie and it is reported that Mourinho rates him very highly and plans to include him in the first team straight away.
If that is the case, where will Matic probably start? The Serbian will have a big decision to make on his future sooner rather than later as top clubs chase his signature. Jesus wishes he could stay with the club but also claims that it is near impossible because top clubs want him that bad.

Mid-fielders are becoming too much in number, what of another solid central defender and a good striker? For Matic deal to happen, chelsea will have to fuck out at least £38m but must we do that? I honestly doubt it.
Playing time is not my problem, the guy is good, my problem how long will it take for them to blend. Let it be that this purchase will be made before preseason finishes, So that the new layers will have much time to train with the old ones before the season proper. Nice move CFC

I think Hulk should be signed so that we can be able to rotate the squad and Torres should stay cause he needs a new chance. The inclusion of new players may be good for him as they may be able to play him. Just like th impact he got from Mata and Hazard. Matic would be a good signing as he is young and he is well known at the club and may play well under the happy one. Schurrle may not be able to solidify his position due to the rigorous schedule of the premier league just like Marin but he’s a well rounded acquisition. Welcome Van Winkel and Schurrle. I believe Jose Morinho knws what he is doing. All the two signings are good but as for me the problems is not majorly based on midfield only, but the attack also. Now that Fenando Torres has tired of scoring goals, Chelsea should look for someone to help him in that front before next season kicks off. I wish them goodluck next season. The Blueeeeeees………….for life. E no go easy next season.
