Gunners are getting closer to seal a deal for Real Madrid’s star striker Gonazlo Higuain. Former Spurs manager Osvaldo Ardiles claims that Arsenal target will always score goals as he is a top top player.
Ardiles believes that the Argentine forward can be as good as Robin van Persie or perhaps even better in his prime days. Although, Arsenal fans will never want Higuain to turn out to be like villain RvP however replicating his goal scoring record will be more than welcomed.
Osvaldo stated talking to Goal.
“Van Persie is a super player, one of my favourites and one of the best in the Premier League last season, along with Gareth Bale,”
“As good as Van Persie? Of course he can, that’s how good Higuain is. You remember when Van Persie arrived he was not exactly, immediately, the best player, it took a bit of time. But he was younger – Higuain is much more experienced.”
Van Persie normally spent time on the treatment table for Arsenal during his tenure and his only brilliant season for the gunners was his last at the Emirates Stadium. RvP scored 30 league goals for Arsenal 2 years back to ensure that gunners do not miss out on the champions league.
On the other hand, Higuain has been prolific for Real Madrid since very young age. He topped their goal scoring charts in 2009-2010 season being just 21 years old.
Higuain has scored 106 goals in 188 league apperances for Los Blancos which is a fantastic record. Moreover his conversion rate is one of the best in the world. Ardiles further claimed:
“He’s a top, top player. He will always score goals. He likes to be in the box all the time and he works hard for his team – wherever he goes he’s going to be great for the team he’s joining,”
Arsenal are surely going to get one of the best finishers in the world if they can sign Higuain. The 25 year old Argentine will fill the void left by Robin van Persie and has all the traits to be better than Dutchman for sure.
