Napoli’s superstar Edinson Cavani has been heavily linked with a move away from club as he looks for a new challenge next season. Although the Serie A top scorer is content with life in Italy but the Uruguayan claimed that he is talking to other clubs as well.
Cavani is one of the best strikers in the world and would surely draw interest from major European clubs. However, not many clubs can afford a sum 50 million pounds. Although there is no clear indication from anyone about whom he is talking to but as things stand, it is likely that Cavani is talking to Chelsea and Manchester City.
Interest From Spain
Although, a month back, reports suggested that Spanish clubs are interested in signing Cavani but things have changed now. Surely, Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two clubs he might consider in Spain but the Catalans have signed Neymar already while Los Blancos are keen on signing Cavani’s compatriot and Liverpool star player Luis Suarez.
On the other hand, Cavani is also not sure whether Spanish football is good for him or not as he told La Gazzetta dello Sport:
“I don’t know if Spanish football is right for me. La Liga is wonderful. Everyone knows that. There are lots of spaces for strikers, but I don’t know where I’ll end up”
Therefore, all this suggests that there are little chances that he is talking to a Spanish club.
Interest from England
In England, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs are the only ones that can afford the price and wages of Edinson Cavani. David Moyes’s United already have a host of quality strikers but the possible departure of Wayne Rooney may lead to a big name signing. However, reports do not suggest that they are interested in Cavani, it is instead Dortmund star Lewandowski.
Chelsea and City have been linked with the Uruguayan international for a long time. City sold Balotelli and may as well let Tevez and Dzeko leave, hence making way for Cavani. On the other hand, the Chelsea have been missing a world class finisher up front to amplify the support of their quality midfield and Cavani can solve that dilemma. Striker claimed:
“I don’t know if Chelsea has put in an offer for me. All I know is that it would be a pleasure to be coached by managers like Pellegrini or Mourinho”
We already know Mourinho has finally returned to Chelsea and Pellegrini is all but set to join Manchester City as manager sooner rather than later. Adding to that, Napoli’s chief also indicated a few days back that he will be talking to Chelsea representatives over a possible sale of Cavani.
Therefore, all points indicate that the clubs Uruguayan claims he is talking to are actually Chelsea and Manchester City. Reports suggest that for now Blues are leading the race to sign him but where will he end up? Only time will tell.

Depends if Cavani is mercenary or not
CFC n MCFC can both activate his release clause. what is left? who will pay him more salary.
More chances of him being a success at City tho Chelsea are famous for flopping top strikers
Chelsea are famous for flopping top strikers? What a load of rubbish. Rigah you sound very bitter indeed. Probably a Liverpool or Utd fan.
Sensei the fact is that TRUTH is BITTER here nothing else
Shevchenko th most deadliest striker in Europe once, Chelsea ruined him
Torres another name gone to trash, from world beater to shit
Hernan Crespo another top top striker
nuff said
Shevchenko came to england once his best years were gone, he wasnt exactly a spring chicken. As for Torres, He was a shadow of his past self after his injury, Has never recovered from it. Lost a yard of pace, And his confidence is rock bottom. Crespo scored goals for Chelsea so that fact just went out the window. You must be forgetting how many goals Zola, Hasselbaink, Drogba all scored at Chelsea. They all became better players. So go hate on another team 🙂
Name a few after Abramovich took over
Only Drog and perhaps one good season from Anelka. Thats it in 9 years.
Shevchenko was 29 when he joined, scored 28 goals in 40 apps for Milan. and so according to you Chelsea paid 30 million for a player whose “best years were gone”
Torres lost searing pace after that injury but still scored 9 in 22 league apps for Liverpool ans scored 6 in 4 before he departed. Was still confident at LFC. that confidence was shattered after playing for Chelsea and their system din suit him. Again going by your logic, you are saying that Chelsea paid 50 million for a player “Who had rock bottom confidence, was never going to recover from injury, never going to gain that pace.
Makes absolutely no sense
Drogba — …Champions League winner …nuff said
Lampard ..midfielder…who likes to score goals ..nuff said
i think cavani should consider clubs’ european performance.chelsea suit him more!
so if chelsea is known for floping strikers how did dogba shine at chelsea
For me all the critics are irrelevant, I rather forget all that… Up chelsea fc
