Manchester City to Sell Dzeko and Sign…?

Having lost their premier league crown to rivals Manchester United, City will be looking to reinforce the squad this summer. With a new manager in charge, the sky blues are set to witness alterations in style of play as well as personnel. One likely departure is Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnian was signed by Roberto Mancini back in 2011 and Dzeko’s stats for City clearly indicate that he is a top striker. However, the 27 year old forward found it hard to start games under the man who signed him and it is highly likely that things will remain the same under new manager as well.
After an impressive title winning campaign, Dzeko could only start 16 league games last season for Manchester City as Mancini favored Argentine pair of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero to lead the lineup for City while Dzeko could only warm the bench.
Despite that, Dzeko scored no less than 14 league goals last term. Aguero has signed a new contract and will once again be the leading striker for Manchester City next season while the Bosnian is linked elsewhere
Dzeko may as well return to Germany to join Borussia Dortmund who may lose their star striker Robert Lewandowski this summer and will look to sign a quality player. Dzeko completely fits the bill as his goal scoring talent led Wolfsburg to win their first ever Bundesliga title.
Surely Dzeko will not like to accept another substitute role with City next season and will want first team football. The question is, who will Manchester City sign to replace Dzeko in case he departs.
If that happens, City will be running short of strikers as they did sell Mario Balotelli to AC Milan in the summer as well and they must add quality upfront to regain the premier league crown.
Falcao was heavily linked with sky blues but it looks likely that the Colombian star striker will eventually end up signing for the riches of Monaco. Ibrahimovic can be an option, but the ego of Zlatan is too much to handle for City and the Swedish international does not guarantee a long term solution as he has a habit of leaving soon.
Other top strikers linked include the likes of Napoli’s Cavani and Dortmund’s Lewandowski. City failed to lure Robin van Persie last time around and the Dutchman proved influential in United’s title winning campaign.Hence, City need to add another top quality forward alongside Aguero to challenge Manchester United next season.
