Madrid in Shock Bid for Liverpool’s Goal Hungry Predator

The Spanish capital club is reported to line up an astonishing bid for Liverpool superstar Luis Suarez. Amazingly, it is not Real Madrid but their local rivals Atletico who are keen on luring Liverpool’s goal hungry predator.

The Reds have reiterated many times that they are in no mood of selling their best player this summer despite all the rumors that are linking him elsewhere because of his controversies. Adding to that, Suarez has himself spoken of his desire to stay with the Merseysiders.

Keeping the above facts in view, Atletico are still adamant to sign the Liverpool talisman for a reported sum of 40 million to replace possibly the best striker in the world right now in Radamel Falcao. Falcao has scored for fun since joining Atletico Madrid last season and has drawn major interest from top European clubs. Having won a Europa League and ensuring Champions League qualification for next season, Falcao is likely to depart in the up-coming transfer market.

Chelsea and City are interested in signing the Atletico goal machine and the striker will easily cost at least 50 million, such is the quality of Falcao. Although reports suggest that Azerbaijan government is backing the Spanish club to buy Suarez but inevitably funds from Falcao’s sale would help anyway.

On the other hand, Liverpool are building for the future. By no means they have had a good season this year but Rodgers has implemented his methods, the players are comfortable with the style of play and for further progress the club must ensure that they keep star players.

Suarez has by far been their best player having scored more than 30 goals this season and Liverpool have relied too heavily on him at times. Everyone attached to the club knows the importance of Luis Suarez if the reds are to finish in top 4 next season.

Not playing in Champions League means that it is hard for Liverpool to attract a player of Suarez’s caliber, even though they will have enormous funds from his sale. Therefore, selling him makes no sense and will be a mistake.

Atletico Madrid have had world class strikers at their disposal over the years such as the like sof Torres, Forlan, Aguero and now Falcao. They will surely want that trend to continue and Suarez perhaps fits the bill perfectly.

The Spanish league is ideal for a goal hungry predator and that is exactly what Atletico will get if they sign the Uruguayan sensation. Juventus and Bayern Munich are interested in signing Suarez as well but for now it seems highly unlikely that he will leave Liverpool. Whatever the future holds, only time will tell.
