German star Andre Schurrle has been heavily linked with the European champions Chelsea but do they really need him? The Bayer Leverkusen forward is one of Germany’s many talented youngsters and his impressive form for both club and country has drawn interest from major European clubs.
Schurrle has scored no less than 14 goals in 39 appearances for Samy Hyypia’s side and may as well be leaving for premier league as Chelsea are increasing their chase and talks are being held in London according to Bayer Leverkusen’s director of communication.
The scenario for Chelsea as it seems is not a complex one. They have loads and loads of talent in the midfield with the likes of Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Lampard (if he stays), Moses, Ramires and Marin.
Adding to that, they will have star youngsters like Lucas Piazon and highly rated Kevin De Bruyne returning from loan to add to the creativity. Chelsea have enough Arsenal in midfield to set up goals but what they have been really lacking is a fantastic striker who could score at least 20 league goals a season.
Schurrle is a versatile forward, can play as a striker, a winger as well as behind the striker but if Chelsea are to play him as a midfielder next season then that does not make any sense when they already have so many options available.
Coming to the striker dilemma, Torres does not look likely to return to his form that made him one of the best in the world and Ba has not been as prolific with the blues as he was with Newcastle.
Lukaku may as well be returning from West Brom next season when his loan expires at the end of the current campaign and he can be another good addition. However, the Belgian will only stay if he is provided with regular football at Stamford Bridge.
What Chelsea really need is an out and out striker who can finish the chances created by such a talented midfield they have at disposal. Whatever they may do with their current crop of strikers, the fact remains that Schurrle is not an out and out striker as well.
The blues need someone like Falcao or Cavani in their ranks to compete with the Manchester clubs for the premier league title next season. Schurrle signing may also depend on whoever takes the managerial hot seat at Stamford Bridge. Having said that, Schurrle is by all means a top talent and for now Chelsea are the ones close to capturing the German Star.
In your opinion, do Chelsea really need Andre Schurrle?

Havnt seen De Bryune but if BVB are ready to pay 17 m for him then he must be some talent. id have Schurrle but if that stops the signing for falcao then not needed
I have been watching the bundesliga for the last few years and honestly this lad is not that good…he is certainly above average but not worth 20m…he is not very quick or not technically that gifted…if i had to compare, i would say he is similar to Gylfi Sigurdsson on spurs….he is not a striker as he is lightweight…chelsea have been watching this guy for some time and its suprising that they are going after him….no other good team seems to be remotely interested in him…i think chelsea overpay for players…
We need a prolific striker like Neyma, Higuain or Chicharito. Chelsea still has Romelu lukaku, Kelvin de brune n Lucas piason so we don’t need Andre Schurrle at all pls.
Chelsea board can be annoying at times, this guy is an average player, why do we go for him when we have so many good midfielders on loan? Kevin is far far better than he is, we should recall him and add money to dat 20mn£ and buy a world class striker.
