Swansea’s Ashley Williams has been strongly linked elsewhere due to his impressive performances for Laudrup’s side. Liverpool and Arsenal are tracking the Welsh international and perhaps the defender is likely to ignore Reds and sign for Gunners.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been weak in the defensive department this season and Ashley Williams being a strong defender can be a perfect solution. Brendan Rodgers might be optimistic of signing one of his own players but Williams might have other ideas.
Liverpool will be without legendary defender Jamie Carragher next season who will retire at the end of current campaign. Adding to that, they might off load Sebastian Coates and Martin Skrtel as well. Such departures will create a massive gap in their central defense and Rodgers is looking at options.
Williams hates Suarez, that much we know. The defender clearly mentioned in his biography how much he loathes the Liverpool talisman who has been by far the best player in the premier league. Then to play alongside him will surely be in his mind and may as well influence the decision to join his ex-manager.
Moreover, Liverpool are once again failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Although it will be a massive step up for Williams to leave Swansea for Merseyside but still the prospect in London might just be more attractive as for now Liverpool are not even looking favorites to earn a place in Europa League.
Arsenal are very much in the race to finish in the top 4 and having relatively easy fixtures, they may as well qualify for Champions league again. Playing in the world’s best club competition is an exciting prospect for every player and Williams will be tempted.
Gunners have been disappointed mainly by their captain and senior most defender Thomas Vermaelen who was dropped for poor performances lately only to return last weekend against Norwich. Adding to that Mertesacker has been inconsistent as well and Wenger may push to sign the Swansea star.
Reports suggest that Gunners have held meeting with Williams’s representative and are ahead of Liverpool in the race to get his signature. Liverpool meanwhile have other options in sight as Ajax’s Toby Alderweireld showed his interest. Lastly, not signing Williams is by no means saddening for the supporters as well.

Personally hate him just because he hates Suarez , sorry
Our defense is good just losing concentration is a problem
Kos sacker and TV5 are all good, dont really need Williams imo
Williams would cost the same as the top end defenders(and more). Kompany, vertongen etc were cheaper, and clearly better players.
I am happy for williams to goto arsenal.
