Arsenal Move a Step Up for German Sensation?

Arsenal Move a Step Up for German Sensation?Over the past few years, Arsenal have been linked with Mario Gotze but never shown real intent to bring the German sensation to England. Gotze is a key member of Borussia Dortmund and one of the main reasons why they have been flying high in Germany as well as in Europe.
Jugen Klopp’s men have won two German titles in the past 2 years only to be taken over by the mighty Bayern Munich. Still Dortmund are a major force and one of the best sides in Europe as proved with their qualification into last four of the champions league. The question remains, will a move to Arsenal be a step up for Mario Gotze.
Although, the gunners have never failed to qualify for the Champions League under the management of Arsene Wenger still they have never really been a major force to win the competition besides the 2006 campaign when they reached the final and lost to Barcelona.
On the other hand, probably this fact is repeated again and again that Arsenal have not won a single title in eight long years and top players only move to win titles. Having said that, Arsenal are a big club and their presence in Europe’s elite competition helps them in attracting top quality stars like Gotze.
The German international was also linked with gunners back in 2011 and lately in the January transfer market but Borussia Dortmund’s chief executive actually thought that a move to North Londoners will not be a step up for Gotze. Watzke claimed:

“How many teams are there really that would be a step up for him (Gotze)? Liverpool or Arsenal? I’m sorry, but when will they win a title again? Not anytime soon.”

Every year, Arsenal fans expect the club to spend big without losing any star player but they are disappointed. Once again, it is rumored that the gunners will have a decent transfer kitty for summer transfer market and they can build a squad that can compete for top prizes next season.
For Gotze, if somehow, against all odds Borussia Dortmund win the Champions League then he will less likely look for a move away from European Champions, especially for Arsenal. Still, if Arsene Wenger wants to lure the German sensation then he has to sign other top quality stars as well so as to compete with the top clubs. Only then it will be a step up for Mario Gotze.
In any case, signing Gotze is easier said than done. For now it really seems highly unlikely that he will join the North Londoners when clubs like Manchester City are involved who already have a star studded squad and can pay him more handsomely as well.
