Are Barcelona Players Overly Confident?

Are Barcelona Players Overly Confident?Barcelona will face AC Milan in the second leg of the Champions League R16 tie at Camp Nou next week. Having lost the first leg 2-0 at San Siro, the Catalan side have a towering task to qualify for the next round. However, barca players seem overly confident against Rossoneri.
Although the Spanish side are far ahead in the race for La Liga this season but their dip in form has been quite extraordinary. Milan were able to exploit Barcelona’s weakness and outplayed them on the counter to take a massive lead in the tie.
If there were any doubts that Barcelona’s poor outing was not just a one off, then Madrid absolutely blew it away by beating their rivals twice in the past few days. The champions dismantled Barcelona 3-1 at Camp Nou to qualify for the Copa del Rey finals and again defeated them at Bernabeu in La Liga.
Still, after such poor outings from a star studded side like Barcelona, their players are too confident that the team will progress to the quarterfinals of the Champions League against all odds. Spanish maestro Andres Iniesta is more than confident that Barcelona can turn the tie around and eliminate Rossoneri out of the competition. He claimed:

“I am confident that we can do it. It was not a good result, but I am 100 per cent convinced that we can turn it around”

The Catalan side are currently 11 points ahead of second place Atletico Madrid in the league with 12 games remaining. The title is theirs to lose but one that can be lost if their recent form continues and Atletico finish season on a high. Still, Iniesta comes up and confidently says:

“We deserve more respect, What’s more, in La Liga, we are in an unbeatable position”

Coming back to Milan Barcelona fixture, the Italians are renowned for their defense and they proved it against Catalans by not allowing them clear sight of goal in the San Siro. Again, Jordi Alba firmly believes that Barcelona can qualify for the quarterfinals despite recent blips. Barcelona have a mountain to climb in the second leg, whether or not they can eliminate seven time European champions out of the champions league, only time will tell.
