The mighty Rossoneri failed to capitalize on chances and eventually dropped 2 points despite dominating Milan derby. El Shaarawy was on target for AC Milan whereas Schelotto scored for Nerazzuri as the match ended in a stalemate.
Inter will be more than delighted to earn a point against an in form Milan side and showed great character mainly in the second half to come back from behind. Else, in the first half Inter were direction less and they were lucky that Milan went into half time only leading by a single goal.
The Rossoneri had more than 50 percent possession in the game but could not make it count to win the derby. Not only that, Milan had 18 shots on goal as compared to Inter’s 10. However, Nerazzuri’s goalie, Handanovic was in top form and made several crucial saves.
Adding to that, the former Inter and Manchester City starlet, Mario Balotelli was having one of those days. The new signing wasted few decent chances that could have perhaps sealed the win for AC Milan but it just was not his night after all.
Having won mere two games in Serie A this year, Inter have been in horrific form. However, the Nerazzuri will be proud of their efforts against Milan as they fought back to earn a draw. Milan Boss, Massimilano Allegri was unhappy with the fact that his side failed to kill the game despite dominating on all fronts. Allegri claimed:
“We need to score goals when we get the chance, because we cannot expect to have the game in hand for the entire 90 minutes. We have to take our chances better.”
The draw leaves Milan in third place and Inter are just one point behind their archrivals. On the other hand, Lazio and Fiorentina have a game in hand and are 1 and 3 points behind 3rd placed Milan respectively. With only 12 games left in Serie A, we can expect intriguing battles for both the Champions league spots and the Scudetto.
