Arsenal defeated Sunderland 1-0 at the stadium of light but the celebrations were cut short as Jack Wilshere who was clearly man of the match on the day limped off injured.
Since his return, young Wilshere has been the shining star for the gunners, most of the time the guy who makes them tick. His injury might just be a major setback for Arsenal who have relied heavily on him for creativity.
The period of his absence is still to be confirmed, hopefully that is not long as the England international just recovered and returned to first team months back after 17 months on the treatment table.
Jack Wilshere was man of the match in midweek for national side as he dominated against Brazilian midfield and he started the game against Sunderland in a very similar fashion.
In the early stages of the match, Wilshere eased a pass through opposition’s defense for in form striker Olivier Giroud but the summer signing could only drag the shot wide.
It did not take long for Wilshere to be involved again as minutes later the youngster set up Aaron Ramsey near the box after his usual forward drive. Once again, Arsenal could not score as Ramsey’s deflected shot was brilliantly saved by Mignolet.
Everytime Jack had the ball, Sunderland’s defense was in danger of falling apart and in the 36th minute, once again Wilshere drove through the obstacles against all odds to pass the ball to Theo Walcott who easily laid it off for Santi Cazorla who smashed it in the net with his left foot.
Just 5 minutes into the second half, Wilshere was substituted as he could not carry on with the distress much to the despair of the Arsenal supporters. Soon after his departure, Arsenal’s dominance suffered, such is the impact of Jack Wilshere’s absence.
His injury is a massive blow for the gunners who have no direct replacement for the versatile midfielder. Adding to that, important games are ahead as Gunners look to continue chase for the 4th spot and above all they have a Champions League fixture with German giants Bayern Munich in 9 days. Whether or not Wilshere will be fit and running in time, only time will tell.

Ohh boy! Arsenal can no longer do well bcos of the missing creativity.notwithstanding, we do hope he comes back earlier as xpected bcos jack is always the driver.
First of all, you’re extremely unfair to Santi Cazorla! Yes, before his injury, Wilshere was having a fantastic game, but so was Santi, nearly matching Wilshere for almost everything, bar the drive. Therefore, by saying Wilshere was clearly man-of -the-match, you would be undermining the superb performance the Spaniard put in, which he capped with a match-winning goal. When Wilshere went off injured, Santi took over everything and lasted the whole game! If Wilshere was man-of-the-match, it means others had a poor game and their performance wouldn’t change anything despite going of early in the 2nd half.
You might be obsessed with Jack just like I am, but we need to be fair here, Santi edged this one
