Arsenal and Tottenham Alert as Chelsea Stumble Again

Arsenal and Tottenham Alert as Chelsea Stumble AgainChelsea lose their 4th consecutive game at the Etihad Stadium as City defeat the Londoners 2-0. The result means that the blues are now 7 points behind second place and in danger of losing out on Champions League Qualification as well.
If Tottenham win tomorrow then they will go above Chelsea to occupy third place in the league. Not only that, Arsenal are by no means far from the blues. The Gunners are currently 5th in the league and even after their crisis form, lie only 2 points behind 3rd place Chelsea.
The pressure on Chelsea Manager Rafael Benitez is increasing by every passing game. Chelsea were completely dominated by the champions today. In the first half, the defense made crucial blocks to keep City out but that did not happen in the second period.
Chelsea should have gone ahead thanks to a controversial penalty awarded by Andre Marriner. However, Joe Hart stepped up and brilliantly denied Frank Lampard’s spot kick. City continued piling pressure and eventually two spectacular goals from Toure and Tevez sealed the deal for the home side.
Amongst, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, Spurs actually have more difficult fixtures left as compared to the other two but they are in decent form.
On the other hand, Arsenal do not have many hard fixtures to play in the league and will look to gain form at the right time to somehow qualify for the Champions League.
Everything is perhaps going wrong for Chelsea these days, the blues scraped past Prague in midweek thanks to a wonder goal scored by Edin Hazard, else they have been poor lately. For worst, Benitez may have a brilliant managerial record but he seems clueless when it comes to utilizing such a talented squad he has at Chelsea.
Today, when Chelsea needed a comeback after going behind, Benitez tactics actually helped City capitalize even more. Looking for an equalizer, the blues midfield was opened up and City had enough space to torment visitors’ defense and that eventually lead to the second goal.
With 11 games left in the premier league, Chelsea can still make amends but they are also in the Europa League that may be a distraction and yet to face tough games against Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Everton in the league. If Benitez does not find a solution soon then Chelsea may end up dropping out of top 4 once again which will be a massive disaster.
