Christopher Samba completes move to QPR. The defender is by no means new to the premier league having spent six years with Blackburn Rovers and featured 185 times for the club.
Samba left Blackburn to join Russian giants Anzhi and now joins Queens Park Rangers who are fighting to survive relegation under Harry Redknapp. The transfer fee is around £12 million, which is club’s record fee.
Not to forget, QPR have already signed forward Loic Remy from Marseille and splashed around 10 million Euros for the French International. Manager Harry Redknapp is delighted to sign the defender having lost Ferdinand and Nelsen this month.
Samba will strengthen QPR’s defensive line alongside another new addition, Korean full back Yoon Suk-Young.
The Congo international also tried to sign for the Rangers last year but Rovers did not accept his transfer request. Later they let him go to join Anzhi.
Now that Samba has joined QPR, Harry will look to focus on the attacking options as he hopes to add more fire power upfront before the end of transfer window.
QPR have been linked with several players during this transfer window and the situation is no different on deadline day as well.
Peter Odemwinge and Stoke’s Peter Crouch are considered to be Harry’s main targets as he continues to strengthen the squad to make sure that QPR do not go down.
Like Harry Redknapp, Mark Hughes signed some big names during the summer transfer window as well. However, he failed to utilize them effectively in any system and was eventually shown the door.
QPR supporters will be hoping that Redknapp can turn things around with his signings and revive the team to survive relegation. Whether or not he can make it possible or flop like Hughes, only time will tell.
