What Now For Wesley Sneijder

What Now For Wesley SneijderFew seasons back Wesley Sneijder was widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. The Dutch maestro now finds himself in a complex scenario at Inter Milan. Manager Andrea Stramaccioni believes that he has got numerous other quality players at his disposal. Therefore, Sneijder who used to be the main playmaker for Nerazzurri is now completely out of favor.
He might not be regularly starting but the quality he possesses is undeniable. That is why several clubs have been linked with the midfielder who may move in the winter transfer market. Where will the Dutchman go from here?

Paris Saint-Germain

Recent reports suggest that French giants PSG are interested in Sneijder’s signature. However, the star-studded side already have many quality play makers and manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed that they do not really need his services. He said:

“In January we will have only Lucas. Sneijder has the profile to play in any club in the world. But this does not mean that he will be here and that we have spoken with him.

On the other hand, Sneijder will also not like to sign for them, as he is already frustrated with lack of playing opportunities at Inter and the same might happen to him at PSG as well.

Tottenham

Having signed attack-minded players in the form of Dempsey and Dembele, still Tottenham have not been able to fill the void left by Luka Modric and Van der Vaart. Sneider is someone who can add the firepower much needed in the center to propel them in the premier league. Currently Tottenham are 5th in the league fighting for the champions league place.
The main obstacle for Spurs is the pay bracket. Sneijder’s demand will easily be more than 7-8 million a year and Tottenham are not famous for paying over the odds against their pay structure.

 Manchester

Manchester City and Manchester United were heavily linked with Sneijder before the start of last season but the player opted to stay in Milan. At that time United were looking to replace Scholes but now they have him alongside youngster Cleverley and new comer Shinji Kagawa as well so Ferguson might not look to sign Inter starlet.
City came up with a massive bid and a handsome package for Sneijder but the player himself refused to join the blue side of Manchester. City have numerous options upfront and for the wings but they probably miss a player like Sneijder in the center. Yaya Toure is the driving force in City but he is the only one in the center and if he leaves for African Cup of Nations, City might suffer like they did last season without him. With City lacking depth, Sneijder can be the ideal play maker for them.

Russia

With the increase in buying power in Russia, top players are usually linked. According to reports in the media, Anzhi and Zenit are the two Russian giants interested in hiring Sneijder’s services. Sneijder may get his desired salary there but will he be interested in playing in a not so renowned league like Eto’o and Hulk?
