Arsenal are in miserable form, lie 10th in the premier league and above all they have been directionless. Surely they need a lift and as it seems, once again the eyes are set on the return of Thierry Henry to provide exactly that. Still, Henry’s return may well be the right option but not enough to solve Arsenal’s crisis.
Never have Arsenal fans complained and protested more under the management of Wenger than they have this season. In such crisis, another loan spell for the legendary striker might feel as if a match made in heaven, but in reality, the move will not solve Arsenal’s problem permanently.
Not even a single gunner fan will be against the return of King Henry. Having scored no less than 15 goals and provided 12 assists this season in Major League Soccer, he still has the spark even at the age of 35. But getting Henry back might mean that the board will not invest in another striker to cover the gap like they did last season.
Arsenal need depth all over the field. The competition for champions league places is tougher than ever and analyzing their form up till now, one can easily conclude that Arsenal will not finish in top four.
Last season, Henry’s return did give Arsenal a momentary lift but the real difference was none other than the prolific Robin van Persie, who dragged gunners out of trouble many a times and helped them qualify for Champions league. They were lucky enough that he survived a whole year without any injury. Not to forget, van Persie never featured in 30 PL games for Arsenal except last season.
The question is who will help them out this season? The recent clueless games have been utterly disappointing. Thierry would not last for long and the inconsistency of Podolski, Giroud and Walcott have been quite depressing for the Arsenal faithful. If that continues and Arsenal do not bring in more quality reinforcements in January, top 4 may as well become a distant dream.
Henry could not settle well in the premiership in his first season so fans argue that over reliance on Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski does not make much sense as both are playing their first season in the hardest league in the world. Now if gunners are going to rely that heavily on a veteran striker then they are going nowhere.
The money is there to spend which is not a mystery still, not many or should I say none of the fans have any idea why the club is always hesitant to spend. Henry’s inclusion will act as a morale booster for other players but without adding further quality Arsenal will not rise. The board and Wenger must realize before its too late that bringing Henry back to Arsenal is not the solution but is only a part of it.
