What Roman Abramovich Really Wants – The Old Torres

What Roman Abramovich Really Wants - The Old TorresIt is well known that Rafa Benitez, former Liverpool and Valencia manager, who criticised Chelsea, has been appointed as their manager since the 21st November.
It is strange to many, including me, as to why Di Matteo was sacked in the first place, after winning Abramovich’s most wanted prize; The Champions League, as well as the FA Cup last year. Di Matteo also brought in some great young players during the summer, in the form of Hazard and Oscar, and Di Matteo has changed the way Chelsea play, partly due to the players he’s brought in.
Therefore, his sacking came as a shock to most; after a good start to the season, the two losses in the Champions League seemed to tip the balance for Abramovich. However, I have a different theory as to why Di Matteo was sacked, and why another gap-filler was brought in, until Guardiola or Mourinho finally say yes.
Andre Villas Boas, previous manager of Chelsea, was by no means a fan of Fernando Torres, who can only be described as a flop since his 50 million pound transfer from Liverpool. AVB played Torres little, and didn’t guarantee him a week in week out starting place even if he rarely played well – something all strikers would be comforted by. Andre Villas Boas was sacked, not necessarily for not playing Torres, but that perhaps played a part.
Di Matteo, alternatively, played Torres much more frequently, practically every game in fact, and stated his intent to play Torres after not purchasing any other out-and-out strikers in the summer, and playing Torres as the spearhead behind an attacking three: Hazard, Oscar, Mata. However, although Di Matteo had faith in Torres, and played him often – he didn’t bring him back to his former self, only glimpses were shown. Di Matteo also dropped Torres for the game before being fired, against Juventus. Just another coincidence?

Liverpool Torres and Benitez

Abramovich has always been a fan of Torres, signing him for 50 million shows this, and no other manager since his time at Liverpool has managed to re-kindle Fernando Torres’ fantastic goal-scoring form.
Rafa Benitez signed Torres at Liverpool, for around 20 million, and showcased him off to the world as one of the best strikers at the time, Benitez was probably the main reason Chelsea paid 50 million for Torres in the first place. Another reason why Torres flourished at Liverpool was the presence of Steven Gerrard, whenever the Liverpool captain got the ball, the first person he looked to pass was El Nino.
Torres himself claimed that no other manager could understand him better than Benitez. At Liverpool, Benitez also brought in fitness coach Paco De Miguel; who watched Torres come through the youth systems at Atletico. Along with Miguel, and Benitez at Liverpool Torres flourished, and now guess what, After Abramovich signed Benitez, Benitez has brought in Paco De Miguel back alongside him in the Chelsea dugout.
All these facts point to one thing; Abramovich really loves Torres, and will do anything to see him firing on all cylinders again, if anyone can do it, its Rafa Benitez and his spanish fitness coach, Paco De Miguel.

Not even Benitez can fix him Mata and hazard Oscar play their own game which is beneficial, if these 3 have to change for Torres and not Torres for these 3 then God Bless Chelsea
