Cesc Fabregas Back to Arsenal – The Perfect Rumour

Recently Marca, the Spanish version of the Sun, reported that the Barcelona manager Tito ‘cannot find a place for Fabregas’ in his Barcelona team. In the first two games of La Liga, Fabregas has played both, but in varying positions. Tito tried him in the Xavi role, which is more holding, and the Iniesta role, but in both games his performance was well below what Barcelona fans expect.
Last year under Guardiola Fabregas played in an altogether different position to Xavi and Iniesta, as he played near Messi. But, with players like Villa, Pedro, and Affelay coming back from injury, aswell as Alexis Sanchez, Cuenca, and Tello available to accompany Messi, it is unlikely Fabregas will take up this role this year under the new Barca coach.
Marca, the Spanish newspaper, are also well known to being pro-Madrid, and following Madrid’s poor start to the season, this article could be an attempt to stir things up in the Barca camp. Nevertheless, this article has started a rumour that Fabregas could be on his way back to Arsenal, his previous club before he joined Barcelona.
This fits in nicely to what Arsene Wenger has said in interviews, about how Arsenal are looking for a ‘special’ player, and that they would splash the cash if need be. As well as this, Fabregas has always been open to a move back to Arsenal in the future, which is why Arsenal got a 35 million buy out clause on Fabregas, should Barcelona choose to sell their number four.

If Fabregas doesn’t improve his finishing to play with Messi, or improve in Xavi or Iniesta’s role, it is said that he could want a move back to Arsenal. Everything here, from the buy out clause, to Tito’s problem with where to play Fabregas, points to a possible move.
This is why Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal became a rumour, as it had all the perfect credentials. However, i’m afraid to say to all Arsenal fans, it remains to be just a rumour. After that long summer of Fabregas wanting a move away from Arsenal to the Catalan club, he wouldn’t want to go back so soon, and just because Barcelona have more top class players to play alongside Messi, it doesn’t mean Fabregas won’t compete with them.
His performances in Xavi and Iniesta’s roles may also improve in time. And, despite what Marca say, I doubt Barcelona would freely sell one of the worlds top midfielders, who is still only 25. Therefore, although it may seem plausible, this is merely a story with all the credentials to be a top class rumour, and nothing more. But Arsenal fans can dream, and as an Arsenal fan, I also can.
