Jose Mourinho Negotiates over Eventual Manchester United Appointment

According to rumours, Jose Mourinho and his representatives are getting more and more confident that he would be appointed as manager of Manchester United next season. An official deal has not been signed yet, but there both the Portuguese and his camp were said to be enthusiastic about the eventual appointment among the major members at the Old Trafford.

It is true that Louis van Gaal is expected to leave the Premier League club in the summer of 2016, and Jose Mourinho seems like one of the most probable choices. However, the enthusiasm of the Portuguese is not unanimous among the owners of the Premier League club.

According to some media reports, one of the Glazer family’s members prefers Mouricio Pochettino, who currently coaches Tottenham Hotspur and has managed to bring them to the third position in the league’s table.

Pochettino’s name has been pointed out as a compromise option, at a time there seems to be still some debates going on among Manchester United board. The Argentinian has been also highly praised due to the fact that he has managed to get the best out of Tottenham who have been considered as a club with relatively limited funds.

In addition, some members of Manchester United’s board were said to be concerned about the appointment of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Such and appointment only proves that Jose Mourinho is one of the few head coaches on a global scale who have the skills and abilities to stand as equal to the Catalan coach.

As reported by some reputable sports media, communication had already been opened between the representatives of Mourinho and the Old Trafford. According to rumours, the negotiations started at the time he was given the sack by Chelsea in late December 2015, and are said to be still ongoing up to date.

In fact, Manchester United are not expected to appoint another manager untested on top of their ranks, especially considering the previous failure of David Moyes in the 2013/2014 campaign and the recent appointment of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. This is exactly the reason why the current assistant coach Ryan Giggs is not very likely to be promoted, regardless of the recent rumours he is to be appointed as head coach and despite the support of some board members.
