David Luiz to Welcome Diego Costa in Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain’s defender David Luiz has said that 27-year-old forward Diego Costa would be most than welcome in the French grand in case that Costa ever makes a decision of leaving Chelsea and the Premier League and start looking for a new challenge.

He has even praised the striker, who he is known to often have confrontations with, calling him “a good friend” off the field. The two players have had a number of clashes over the second leg of the last-16 tie of the two clubs in the Champions League in March 2015.

The Paris Saint-Germain’s Luiz shared “there are two Diegos”, because the Chelsea striker is quite different when it comes to his attitude on and off the field. According to the defender, Costa is confrontational on he field, but when off the field, he is a decent guy and a good friend.

The Spanish international Costa has been having some difficulties over the current campaign after leading Chelsea to the Premier League title in the 2014/2015 after a really strong performance of the team from the competition’s beginning to its end.

The 27-year-old, however, has struggled this season with only seven goals scored in a total of 18 Premier League matches so far. The relatively poor presence of the forward has become the reason why he has been forced to answer various questions about his situation at the English club, especially considering some clashes he had with the team’s ex manager Jose Mourinho.

Recent misfortunes of Costa have also provoked some rumours that Costa is to exit Stamford Bridge and move to another European team. So, David Luiz has said in an interview that his side would be happy to greet the arrival of one of the best strikers in Europe up to date to their ranks. He also explained that Paris Saint-Germain have made their policy of signing only the best players absolutely clear over the last several seasons, which is why Costa would be an excellent addition to the French club.

Paris Saint-Germain currently occupies the first position in the Ligue 1 table. The French No.1 team is to face Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16 in February. David Luiz commented on the future clash, saying that his side would not underestimate their opponent regardless of Chelsea’s poor league standing up to date. According to him, the unfortunate season in the Premier League could make Chelsea even more motivated to do well in the Champions League.

The defender also added that he is to welcome the upcoming battles with Diego Costa’s side.
