The goalkeeper Danny Ward is to be recalled from loan at Aberdeen by the team of Liverpool six months before the expected exit date, according to reputable media reports.
The 22-year-old player was expected to stay at Aberdeen until the summer of 2016, but there is actually an early release-date clause in his contract, allowing him to be recalled by Liverpool from January 1st, 2016. As reported by several sports media, the head coach at Anfield has made a decision to take advantage of this arrangement.
In June 2015, a new, long-term contract with Liverpool was signed by the goalkeeper. On the other hand, Ward himself revealed in December that he was keen on the idea to come back at Liverpool’s stadium over the upcoming season, but that opportunity has been brought forward earlier thanks to the current goalkeeping crisis at Anfield.
Liverpool and manager Klopp have been facing some problems when it comes to the team’s goalkeepers. Simon Mignolet has been criticised regularly on his performances at the field, while the 28-year-old Adam Bogdan has not been considered confident enough when taking part in the club’s matches against Watford on December 20th and in the 2-2 draw with Exeter City on January 8th.
On the other hand, Danny Ward has been praised for his performances since he has been part of the current No.2 in the Scottish Premiership, especially considering the fact that Aberdeen have demonstrated ambition for winning the championship.
The 22-year-old Ward has been the team’s first choice. He managed to keep 11 clean sheets in a total of 29 appearances for the Scottish team. He also took part in Aberdeen’s game against the Hearts on January 9th, but was informed later that Liverpool would probably take advantage of his early-return clause.
Ward has been also part of his country’s national football team, but unfortunately, he has been mostly on the bench at the time. He has also been part in the Under-21 team of Wales. The goalkeeper joined Liverpool from his hometown club Wrexham in January 2012. Over the time spent as part of the Reds, he was even member of the team for their pre-season tour to North America that summer.
Danny Ward has been reported to suffer from lack of game time, especially considering the fact he stayed at the bench 19 times over the last season under the lead of manager Brendan Rodgers. This is one of the main reasons why he has been reported to have decided to go on loan to League Two side Morecabe in March 2015. Later, he agreed to send the time until the end of the season in Scotland as part of the Aberdeen team on loan.
