The former start of Real Madrid Roberto Carlos shared his belief that the Spanish grand is to certainly improve under the lead of their new head coach Zinedine Zidane.
Carlos played side by side with Zidane at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for five years in the period between 2001 and 2006, and Carlos is well-acquainted with the qualities and style of the current manager of Real Madrid. According to him, it would be a lot easier for Zidane to relate to the players in comparison to Rafael Benitez.
In addition, Carlos said that Zidane’s experience at the field would probably be quite helpful in order to get closer to the current stars of the club. The ex attacking midfielder and now-coach won both La Liga and the Champions League titles as part of Real Madrid and was awarded the Ballon d’Or after he managed to win the World Cup with France national football team in 1998.
In an interview for a reputable local sports media, Carlos also commented that Real’s president Florentino Perez had made a great decision to bring in Zidane. According to him, Zidane is a “modern manager”, who thinks like the players, which would be very helpful considering the current situation in the team. In addition, Carlos explained that in his point of view, it had been hard for Rafael Benitez to make players understand him, which is exactly why he believes that Zidane was a great choice for Real Madrid.
As a matter of fact, the president of the Spanish club that currently occupies the third position in La Liga table has also been criticised for restricting his managers too much. In addition, head coaches of the team have been constantly coming and going over Perez’ tenure, which has been another problem for Real Madrid for more than a decade now. Hopefully, the squad have finally found their man in the face of Zidane, who is undoubtedly considered as one of the most brilliant football players of all times.
Still, there would be a lot of challenges for Zinedine Zidane to deal with. First, it is the squad’s overall form that needs mending. Things are not pretty bad yet, but the players obviously have to be made look like a team and start working in collaboration. This is the reason why Zidane would have to implement a truly efficient playing system taking into consideration the specific player resources and technical skills the squad have at their disposal.
The defensive line of the team is also something that needs to be worked on. The matters of defence are literally vital for the new manager to sort out, regardless of the injuries issues, which Real Madrid has been dealing with for quite some time now. The dominance of Rafael Varane is expected to increase even more under the lead of Zidane, who would probably bet on the young player’s qualities and energy.
