Young Juventus defender, Daniele Rugani, has been the object of several clubs’ interest as of late. Rugani was transferred to the Old Lady for a permanent stay in February, 2015, as Juve bought him out from another Serie A club – Empoli.
After his transfer from Empoli, the defender has been frozen out at Juve, and was not given the opportunity to frequently appear on the pitch alongside his team mates. This caused him to attract the interest of several major league clubs. It is speculated, the player himself is more than willing to switch teams. Furthermore, despite his limited time on the pitch with Juventus, he is considered to be one of the most promising young defenders in football.
The young Italian’s name has been associated with several clubs from abroad, including Manchester United and Arsenal. The latter reportedly offered Juventus the impressive sum of £14million for his move. According to numerous reports, Arsenal were plotting to loan him during the next transfer window, in January, 2016. Juve, however, appear to be reluctant to transfer their player outside Italy.
Rugani’s name has been connected to an impressive number of Serie A clubs, as well. The 21-year old defender is reportedly targeted by Juventus’ rivals, Napoli and Fiorentina. Napoli, especially, have openly demonstrated their interest and have expressed their desire to purchase the player right away. He has been linked to Genoa, Bologna and Verona as well. But it seems, Sampdoria have the greatest chances of recruiting the defender to their squad.
According to reports, the Blucerchiati’s officials have already reached out to representatives of the Italian player. Supposedly the two sides have arranged a meeting in Milan, in order to discuss Rugani’s possible transfer to Sampdoria, this January. The intentions of the club’s officials are to purchase Rugani on loan from Milan, for a year and a half. Nevertheless, it is speculated Juventus will agree to temporarily part with their defender for no more than six months.
Juventus officials have repeatedly declined tempting offers for Rugani’s transfer. Nevertheless, it seems The Old Lady might reconsider the option of transferring the player. According to transfer expert, Alfredo Pedulla, Sampdoria is the only club, Juventus would agree to sell Rugani to. It is expected representatives of both Serie A clubs will soon meet to discuss the details and seal the deal.
Reportedly, Juventus prefer to sell their centre back to another Serie A team, as they’re reluctant to allow him to permanently depart from Italy. Despite his limited time on the pitch, Rugani is considered a valuable player, especially now, when defender Andrea Barzagli’s situation at Juventus is unclear.
