Neymar’s Future at Barcelona Remains Unclear

There is a possibility that Neymar may leave Barcelona, because of tax issues in Spain. The 23-year-old footballer is negotiating for extending his contract that will expire in 2018.

Barca are fond of renewing the deal with the Brazilian striker and even have increased his release clause. However, Neymar Santos Sr, his father and manager, said that he had doubts about his son’s future in the club. He added that there were issues that concerned him.

Neymar Santos Sr said that he and his family were under unstopping attacks and accusations and they had been defending themselves for two and a half years. The manager will respect the contract with Barca, but they need to make a deal that gives them a peace of mind.

Neymar Sr, his son and his family are not planning to leave Spain, but they have major tax problems. “We’ve never experienced such major tax issues.”

Many clubs, including the top Premier League clubs, wanted to land the Brazilian striker, but Neymar chose Barca.

The transfer to Barca has been under investigation by the Spanish court. Barcelona declared that they paid 57.1 million Euros for Neymar, but the club actually spent 83.371 million Euros. The declared lower fee meant that Barcelona paid less tax, which is a crime.

Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona’s club president, and Sandro Rosell, his predecessor, will stand trial for tax evasion.

The Brazil court froze £31.3 million that belong to Neymar, because of the tax evasion between 2011 and 2013.

It is not easy for Neymar’s family, because they are being accused from all sides, both the Spanish and the Brazilian tax system. They are doing everything they can to deal with the tax issue, because the family does not need more nasty and ugly surprises.

Neymar brand is a family business which has been running since 2006 from their home country Brazil. All that Neymar Sr and his family want is their peace of mind. They need to know that everything is in order.

“We need to do things properly, and ascertain whether in Spain we’ll be allowed to carry out our work.”

The 23-year-old footballer is promising and ambitious. Many clubs has shown interest in him, including Manchester United.

He scored 43 goals in all matches. Neymar played a great role in helping Barcelona win Copa del Rey, La Liga and Champions League the last season. The Brazilian striker is the leader of the La Liga’s chart with 11 goals during this season.
