Bundesliga’s Star Granit Xhaka to Become the Apple of Discord between Liverpool and Arsenal

The midfielder of Borussia Mönchengladbach Granit Xhaka, who is considered as one of the most successful young players in the Bundesliga, may become the apple of discord between Liverpool and Arsenal. It seems that the newly-appointed manager of Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp – could enter his first bidding war since he has taken the reins of the team, because he is preparing to oppose Arsenal in a £21-million battle for the Swiss player.

Xhaka, who is only 23 years old, has made a breathtaking start with Borussia Mönchengladbach this season and is believed to be one of the players who played a crucial part in the club’s rising to sixth in the Bundesliga table. His qualities as a midfielder are considered so great that he has been often compared to legends such as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Xherdan Shaqiri.

His decisiveness and great overall form and physical condition are some of the main reasons why Xhaka has been set as a regular player for Switzerland and has taken part in the Euro 2016 39 times. All of this makes Xhaka, who formerly played for Basel an excellent option for both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Recently, both the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and the manager of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp have been focused on strengthening their teams by signing with the young Swiss player, who has managed to establish himself as one of the leading midfielders in the Bundesliga not only over the last season, but also over the ones preceding it. Arsenal’s Wenger was reported to have already tried to sign with Xhaka last summer, but unfortunately, he did not succeed.

Wenger’s interest in the player of Borussia Mönchengladbach logically comes at a time when the manager of Arsenal aims at boosting the team’s midfield options, especially considering the fact he neglected to do so in the summer. As a matter of fact, Arsenal has been searching for a new central midfielder for several seasons now because of the persistent injuries of Jack Wilshere and the age of Mathieu Flamini.

The boss of Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp – is also set to enter a battle for the signature of Xhaka, as he is also trying to bolster the club’s ranks. According to the German newspaper Bild, the contract of Xhaka with Borussia Mönchengladbach contains a €30-million buyout clause which would be willingly activated by both managers.

On the other hand, Liverpool is striving to add more qualitative players in the team, which makes Xhaka a great option considering his talents and excellent performance in the Bundesliga.
