Major league clubs Juventus and Chelsea have almost reached an agreement on winger Juan Cuadrado’s permanent tranfer to the Italian football team. Cuadrado signed his season-long loan with Juve in August, this year. The Colombian player made his first appearance as a loanee at the end of October, when he scored his first goal for the team in a match against Torino.
Cuadrado’s loan to Juve resulted from his failure to settle his deal with the Blue Lions at the end of his loan to Florentina. The Colombian winger was temporarily moved to Florentina after signing a £23.3 million deal with the club. He then was loaned by the Blue Lions to the Serie A’s Juventus.
The 27-year old player appears to be more than willing to extend his stay with the Italians. The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement on the player’s transfer fee. Cuadrado’s transfer is rumoured to be somewhere between £14.2 and £15.6 millions.
However, the deal is yet to be sealed. Juventus prefers to agree on the fee first, prior to cementing the deal for Cuadrado’s permanent transfer from Chelsea. The Italian club prefers to wait till the season comes to an end.
The Colombian appeared as a starter a total of four times in the course of the Premier League’s 2014/2015 season. In contrast, since his transfer to Juve, he frequented the Serie A team’s starting line-up and helped them at the start of their campaign.
Perhaps, such a transfer will turn out to be a good move for the winger. It provides Cuadrado with the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and prove himself out in the field.
Some argue The Blue Lions’ manager, Jose Mourinho, should reconsider transferring Cuadrado, as the team’s performance hasn’t been very impressive as of late. Chelsea did rather poorly in the Premier League this term, as they lost a total of twelve matches, thus ending at 16th place. Many fans question the manager’s future with the team.
Lately, Chelsea’s striker Diego Costa hasn’t performed well, either. The Blues are rumoured to have commenced a search for a more promising player to substitute or completely cover for Costa. Reportedly, the club is aiming at Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently Napoli’s striker. The 27-year old Argentinian has shown great promise, while playing for the Serie A club. This season Higuain has participated as a starter, in a total of 12 games and has scored nine goals. It seems he is just what the Blues are missing, to emerge back on top. However, Napoli will hardly agree on selling such a promising player.
