This is going to be a good matchup today between Irina-Camila Begu against Olga Govortsova. I'm siding with the young lady from Belarus in Govortsova this morning, and there are a couple reasons why. I saw their only other H2H match this year, and Govortsova won rather easily. She and Begu both move really well, but Begu has a very soft service game, and Govortsova has a blistering return forehand that she blew past Begu several times in their first match. Even Begu's first serve doesn't break much past 85 MPH, so Govortsova will have her chance to attack.
Add in the fact that Begu's only two quality wins the past 3 months have been against Polona Hercog, who Begu gave 20!! break chances, but Hercog only converted 4 and the other win was against a Madison Brengle who might as well have just stayed home because she damn sure didn't show up for their match, getting wasted 6-4, 6-0.
Govortsova has had a couple decent opponents to so far in Toronto, so she should be nice and warmed up for this match.
Great odds on Govortsova, and I'm backing her. Good luck all!!
